It is obvious that the cull has failed.
We do not need a Gloucestershire scrutiny task group to determine that this inhumane trial should be abandoned. It has failed on every count, and perhaps more worryingly it held out a false promise to farmers that it would help reduce bTB. We need an eradication plan based on science not scapegoating. GCC is wasting its time with a scrutiny task group and should now be calling on Owen Paterson to provide real help to dairy farmers blighted by this terrible disease.
There is a suspicion that this task group is another example of posturing; it allows local politicians to claim they are addressing the concerns of Gloucestershire residents, allows them to feel important sitting on committees but the end result will be useless to the national debate since the work has already been done
